Dipende dall'applicazione e dal risultato che si vuole raggiungere.
Un 2D dettagliato come quello della CTC al 1000 di Torino [*], aggiornata
ogni 3 mesi, accurata e iperprecisa, non significa per forza che sia utile
per scopi .. turistici [**].

E' chiaro che in un'ottica IDT per una PA sarebbe auspicabile arrivare a
geodati pubblici con alto valore aggiunto.

A proposito di formati 3D aperti: avete letto cosa sta facendo Google in
OGC?

The Planning Committee strongly endorsed the proposal by Google to bring KML
into the OGC standards process. The first step will be to perform limited
harmonization with OGC and ISO standards and then produce a document for
consideration by the OGC members for release as OGC Best Practices. There
will also be a public discussion list created so that the OGC KML related
work will remain open and transparent.

As many know by now, OGC <http://www.opengeospatial.org/> is working to
bring KML into the international standardization process. There's a public
mailing list <http://www.opengeospatial.org/projects/groups/massmarket> for
interested parties to discuss what they would like to see in an OGC KML, but
I'd like to spend a second on the legal aspect, which is just as important.

hold the standard for Google's KML. 6% believe it should be standardized but
not by the OGC, while 26% believe Google should keep control over KML.
