Ciao a tutti,

Diego

POSIZIONE 1

Profile:
1. Knowledge of design of Spatial Databases 2. Knowledge of open source DB (probably PostGres or PostGIS -- consultant will make that choice) 3. Knowledge of Map Server development (ideally University of MN as they want to stay Open Source)

Context:
The project is in collaboration with DG-AIDCO. They find many projects around the world. At the moment, all the information for each of these projects is stored in EXCEL !!! They want a web based system to interact with these data. I do not have an example of the data, but it contains information about the projects (amount of funding, duration, location, etc.). This is ideally suited for a GIS solution. On the backend the consultant will have to design a database and import the EXCEL data. On the front end, they would like a map to interact with the data but also the ability to interrogate the database through a form and display the results. Fairly straightforward.
The duration will initially be 8 months. This project is done through an administrative arrangement which will continue, and it is the intention for the work to continue beyond the initial eight months (at least for 1 year total). Personally, I think it will go longer than that.
Profile is SAP - NORMAL (not Specific mainly due to budget reasons).
English is not enormously important, but it would be good to find someone with reasonable English.
They would like to launch the request ASAP with the idea of starting late June or early July.
